Internet Ten Years Ago

The picture to the right was used by me in a report ten years ago, 1997.

The statement "Futurists say that the Internet will radically alter global culture" is becoming reality.

  1. We Twitter
  2. We Jaiku
  3. We Facbook
  4. We Ning
  5. We Basecamp
  6. We Barcamp
  7. We Pownce
  8. We Blog
  9. We Microblog
  10. We Skype
  11. We YouTube
  12. We Podcast
  13. We Webcast
  14. We Collaborate online
  15. Internet has become a communication work horse
Ten years ago email was the killer application. Today its a spam-machine.

Ten years ago a web-page was a huge step forward. It was your business card.

Today I blog on several channels on a daily basis.

This is represent my ideal post!
Good content, thoughtful, short and 'good looking'.

Well done Helge!

Andrea

BTW it's impressive how the things changed...and how the speed of innovation keeps increasing every minute more...

Thanks Andrea, I need to learn to write shorter posts and to use images.

I've started to reflect upon some old stuff that I've but didn't understand how to use it.

The next ning thing will be widespread use of rich media and the work you are doing.

It's interesting when we look back like you did in this post...
We always get good inputs for new thoughts and ideas

About short posts: Yes I think is better to keep it short and simple, even if sometimes is a bit tricky because we have so many things we would like to write, like in my Amazon post today.. http://www.andreavascellari.com/blog/?p=310 or maybe in this case it would have been better to make a video? more digestible?!

Ning is a good platform and it gives a good level of interaction to the user/community. With tools like ning we are starting to give an easier access to the internet world. We are enpowering people everyday more and this is a good thing that can help us to get out this sort of 'echo-chamber' in which sometimes we seam to be trapped.

Long posts: I guess that many bloggers write stuff fore own use and not always thinking about the readers.

Short posts: A good idea doesn't take many words to explain.

Ning: I like Ning. Created one for KK-Net kknetwork.ning.com

Be my guest.
